Because they don't teach you this in school…

I recently started my new position as the Director of Digital Design for Moseley. While any change is tough, in my core I am very excited about kicking some tires.

As a technical specialist for an Autodesk partner, I talked to a lot of people, I did many discoveries, I shared a lot of information, and I touched a lot of software. But much of my work was at a high level, or the projects were required to be done fast (consultants get paid by he hour, after all). By the nature of the work, there wasn’t a lot of time to sit and soak in a weird idea or poke something for a while to see if anything would happen.

Now a big part of my job is to poke things.

I have to lead a team, I have to make sure our firm continues to generate quality documents from the software in my barrel, but in the cracks I will find the time and opportunity to test out new technologies and see if they can improve how our teams work.

Unfortunately, a lot of that means I am going to be playing catch up.

There is some amazing work being done by some very smart people, and much of what I do will be standing on their shoulders, but I plan to share it all here, so others can learn from my mistakes and maybe get an idea or two that can make their lives a little easier.

I will keep doing the work of keeping the software running, and I will share a lot of that here, but I hope you will also see some interesting posts about 3D printing, AI, and whatever else I think I may want to poke at.
